Cons: She can be a bit dry at times, but over all I don't have an complaints because she was so dang funny and a great teacher!
I love her, take her classes!
The textbook is used, but she puts all the pages on D2L; so no need to buy it.
The papers are useful tools for projects, so you actually learn.
Cons: Well, it is an EXL class, so it does require you to actually put time into it. There will be out of class work, but Dr. Asbury gives some class time as well. You actually need to do the readings--not just a skim, but a legit read through. Also, sometimes class gets sidetracked.
Overall, I really enjoyed this class. The topic (Health Communications) was pretty interesting, but as with most classes, the crux of the matter is the professor. With Asbury, you won't ever have to worry--she's got your back. She's maintains a good balance between fun and work. There are a few papers to write...I think three total? At most, three. The campaign analysis paper is super helpful, and not all that difficult. You will probably have to create a health campaign, which is surprisingly fun. I know most of the time the best thing to do when choosing a topic is to pick one you think you can work with, but in this case, pick one you actually like, because it makes a huge difference. ALSO: make sure you have legit group members. Noone likes to be that one person who does all of the work. Overall, this class has interesting subject matter, is relatively low stress, very collaborative, and a rad teacher. If I have the chance, I will most definitely be taking Dr. Asbury again.
Cons: Miss Asbury is a horrible communicator but teaches Communication.
No late work accepted no matter what the situation.
She may treat you different if you are a man.
Do not take this class. Miss Asbury will take out her social angst and regrets on you. Her past failures is not an excuse to refuse to work with students or care. She should be fired and forced to repay the $42,025.00 she is paid.
Cons: Can be a bit dry at times
Dr. Asbury is an excellent teacher in the ORCO department and if you are an ORCO student then you are instantly on her good side. Dont try to pull anything on her though. She knows all the tricks
Cons: The information can be a little repetitive and dull.
Cons: Grading is strict.
Dr. Asbury is a great teacher who is full of information on the subject she teaches. Her classes are fun and her lectures are easy to follow. You WILL have to try in her class. It is not an easy A. If you put forth and effort and don't try to just skate through, you should have no problem passing.
Cons: Three papers but they are not too bad
Dr. Asbury is an awesome teacher!!! She is young and very funny. Her lectures are very easy to follow and understand. The tests were not hard if you study her study guide. The papers were also easy and did not take long to write. The community service is also very easy and only 10 hours. Donât buy the textbook because you wonât need it. Take Dr. Asbury and you will love coming to class!!
Cons: She is very specific on her papers
Get the 10 hours of volunteering done EARLY. Waiting until last minute is not fun.
Cons: lots of notes
I LOVED Dr. Asbury! On the first day she was very intimidating but I believe this is just because it was her first semester at MTSU and she felt like she wanted to prove herself. As the semester went on, I began to really like her. The assignments she gave were related to the class and let us put everything we learned in class to the test in the real world. She used great examples such as movies, tv shows and celebrity interviews. Almost every class was enjoyable and full of laughter. She is a great teacher with lots of experience in education and shares some hilarious stories about interviews gone wrong. She also rewards students who come to class on a regular basis. Take Dr. Asbury in class if you need to take a class with her. She is relatable and made the class fun for all. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
